NordVPN 6.37
-
New: From time to time, we have some interesting stuff to share with you. However, the app was missing a line of communication and behaving in a reserved manner (blame our silent Nordic personality, we suppose?). Now it’s time to break the ice: product updates and hand-picked security tips will reach you via in-app messages.
-
Better: When updating, the app will use less data.
-
Better: A few tweaks under and above the hood to make the app run smoother, look nicer, and be a joy to use.
NordVPN 6.36
While traveling is off the table or at least limited to elevator rides, you can calm that travel bug by roaming virtually with us. Connect to NordVPN servers in different countries to change your virtual location. And what if we tell you that New York or Sydney now can be a one-click destination?
-
New: Location markers for cities on the map. For countries with VPN servers in several cities, you will see those cities on the map when you zoom in. Click to connect to a server in New York, Berlin, Sydney… Well, it’s more exciting when you explore the city options yourself.
-
Better: Enough of being mysterious. When you launch the app, the NordVPN splash screen will indicate that it’s loading.
-
Better: We put our racer helmets on and did some work under the hood to make the app faster to start.
-
Fixed: A few visual improvements for the map’s accuracy.
-
Fixed: The vanishing server list magic. The server list no longer appears empty after updating the app and launching it with no internet connection.
-
Fixed: The unreliable one. Sometimes, auto-connect wouldn’t work properly after an app update or a PC restart. Well, no more – you can count on it.
NordVPN 6.35
What’s the first thing that pops into your mind when you hear ‘around the world’? Daft Punk (*sob*)? In 80 days? Ferdinand Magellan? Your bucket list? Or maybe you teleport to a discotheque back in the late days of Eurodance (Gen Z – cover your ears, if you will)? For us, it’s the map – the main highlight of this release:
-
In this map upgrade, we reworked how we organize country markers to make the map more handy when connecting to VPN. Depending on a zoom level, you’ll either see all location markers or marker clusters by areas. So now there’s more order, nothing’s overlapping, and, hopefully, there’s more convenience for you.
The other highlights:
-
The app will use less memory.
-
Keeping security on point with the update to OpenVPN 2.4.10.
-
Obfuscated servers are temporarily unavailable with OpenVPN UDP. If you were using this combo, your protocol will be changed to OpenVPN TCP automatically.
-
Fixed: The login grinch. Logging in via Nord Account will be smoother now, as we got rid of a few bugs ruining the joy of jumping into the app.
-
Fixed: Double-click the adventurous. No more unexpected transitions when you double-click on the map.
NordVPN 6.34
We took up a challenge of telling you what’s new in 40 seconds. Go!
-
New: From now on, you’ll be logging in with your Nord Account – we’ll take you to your browser to log in and then take you back to the app. If you ever decide to expand your protection beyond VPN, your Nord Account will work like magic when getting on board with other Nord Security products.
-
Better: In addition to Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, split tunneling is now available on Windows 7 too.
-
Fixed: Anti-splitter. This bug no longer gets in your way when using split tunneling.
-
Fixed: The internet thief. Sometimes, it would stealthily do the mischievous work under the hood to leave you without an internet connection. Well, no more.
-
Fixed: Fencer. This bug no longer prevents apps from accessing the IP address 127.0.0.1 with VPN disabled through split tunneling.
-
Fixed: Anti-proxy. Logging in to the NordVPN app will work smoothly even if you’re using a browser proxy extension. We can all get along.
40 seconds. Nailed it.
NordVPN 6.33
Since everyone’s working on their ‘naughty-or-nice’ scores… We heard that this is the recipe for a perfect release: something new, something better, and a dash of fixed bugs. Here’s our attempt:
-
New: Split tunneling. That’s a super handy feature if you don’t want some of your apps to run through a VPN connection. With split tunneling, you have the power to make VPN protection work best for you. Available in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
-
Better: If you use Kill Switch for your apps, now you can also enable it for web apps and apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Oh, and the same goes for split tunneling!
-
Fixed: Pretentious bouncer. This mischievous bug will no longer log users out from the app after restarting their PC or if the internet connection dropped for a moment.
-
Fixed: Taskbar hogger. The app will no longer persistently stay in the taskbar if you set it to launch minimized.
-
Fixed: Buzzkill. This bug will no longer prevent split tunneling from working smoothly.
NordVPN 6.32
-
Just in time for the back-to-school vibes, our app picked up a new skill: Bonjour! Hallo! ¡Hola! Yes, it’s going multilingual. Look for a Language switch in Settings to change to French, German, or Spanish.
-
From now on, updating the app doesn’t have to stop you from what you’re doing. We’ll let you know when a new version is ready, and it will be installed in the background while NordVPN is running. Restart the app and enjoy!
-
You’ll see a new icon in the header bar that looks like a bell. That’s home for notifications, which will inform you about important stuff – for example, if there’s an update ready.
-
We implemented some cool stuff under the hood to improve the app stability and overall performance. Also, a few design updates above the hood to give the app a fresher look.
-
A few bugs causing connection issues were minimized to the level of non-existence.
-
Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented the update from running smoothly.
-
Fixed a bug that sometimes logged users out after completing the update.
-
A security patch is in place.
NordVPN 6.31
-
Spotted a bug? Report it to us by using a form within the app, and we’ll bring our bug spray.
-
Seamless protection with auto-connect: if you enable it on unsecured Wi-Fi networks, NordVPN will connect automatically when you join one and stay connected as long as you’re on it – unless you disable auto-connect or trust this Wi-Fi network.
-
Bye Favorites: As servers in Favorites and Recents often overlap, we’re eliminating the Favorites section from the app but doubling the items shown in Recents to 10 instead. Your current favorite servers will now move to Recents. If you’d like to save a list of your current favorite servers, we added an easy way to do it.
-
A few tweaks to make your NordVPN experience better, including the one that adds extra precision to Quick Connect when picking the best server for you.
NordVPN 6.30
6.30 might be something you’re not happy to see on your phone’s screen when the alarm goes on Monday morning. Our version of 6.30 is a totally different thing. Here’s what’s new and exciting about it:
-
Enable auto-connect on all Wi-Fi networks to enjoy effortless security. You can trust specific Wi-Fi networks if you don’t need VPN protection on them.
-
Showing more detailed ‘Recents’: if you were connected to a specialty server, we’ll display both its category and country.
-
Improved stability and performance.
-
Smoother app experience after getting rid of bugs of various species. Those include the mysterious one with disappearing ‘Recents’ after a VPN protocol change or connection pause, the rare one where NordVPN and drivers of certain headphones just couldn’t go along, and a few others.
-
A few performance fixes, as we did some tinkering under the hood to make the app run smoother.
NordVPN 6.29
An ultimate focus, a confident smile. Click – and the release is out. For us, it’s one of the most exciting app releases ever. The project we’ve been relentlessly working on comes into light today. We call it NordLynx.
NordLynx is our new technology built around the WireGuard® protocol to bring you blazing speeds in VPN connections. Fast, secure, and optimized for privacy, NordLynx is set to be a game-changer in your VPN experience.
Here’s how to take it for a test-drive: Go to Settings > Auto-connect > Disable “Choose a VPN protocol and server automatically” > VPN protocol > NordLynx
Even though this release is all about speeding up your VPN connections, we’ve also made a few other improvements:
-
Faster and more smooth switching between servers.
-
Fixed: The App Killswitch now activates only when disconnecting from VPN manually or if an unexpected connection drop happens. It means no more quitting the selected applications when switching to another VPN server.
NordVPN 6.28
What’s new:
-
Trusted Wi-Fi networks: add Wi-Fi networks on which you don’t want to be auto-connected to VPN.
-
Search is now better at searching: we revamped our search mechanism so you get only relevant results – and fast.
-
More accuracy in Recents: if you used Quick Connect, we’ll say so – instead of listing the specific server you were connected to.
-
A few tweaks that will make your app experience smoother.
NordVPN 6.27
What’s new:
-
Pause VPN protection for 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour and get connected again automatically. It’s like hitting “snooze” – only instead of a few more moments of precious sleep, you temporarily disable the VPN connection.
-
We’ve revamped Settings to make them more handy. Key highlights: the Kill Switch has been moved to a separate tab, and there’s a new toggle that will assign a VPN protocol and server automatically.
What’s fixed:
-
A few security patches are in place.
-
Minor improvements and fixes to keep your app experience smooth.
